David Einhorn and David Grutman built Papi Steak as a kosher-style steakhouse that behaves like a nightclub: dim crimson booths, sparklers, celebrity sightings by the dozen. The showpiece is the gold-wrapped tomahawk, carved tableside, alongside pastrami bacon and truffle-laced sides. Reservations are the hardest currency in South of Fifth, and the room spends them loudly.
